Lennert is a doctoral candidate in the Global Urbanism project at the Department of Human Geography of Stockholm University. He obtained his master’s degree in Human Geography at Stockholms University in 2013. Before, he did a premaster in Human Geography at the University of Amsterdam. He also holds a BSc and MSc in (Social) Psychology.

His research interests focus mainly on collective organizing capacities of urban marginalized citizens in sub-Saharan Africa. He intends to conduct research to investigate the complex interplay between local, national and transnational networks and how these facilitate local, national and transnational struggles of the urban poor. He is very interested in the role of place and grassroots organizing related to urban citizenship and urban processes linked to inclusion and exclusion.
