Thomas Jonter is Professor of International Relations and Head of Department. He has PhD in history (cold war history) from Uppsala University (1995) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership from University of Oxford (2010). His research focuses on nuclear non-proliferation and energy security. Jonter is also engaged in an educational and research program in Russia and Ukraine with the aim to initiate academic courses and programs in nuclear non-proliferation. He has been visiting scholar at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Stanford University, and Cornell University. Professor Jonter is also chair of Swedish Pugwash and served as advisor to the Swedish delegation to the 2015 Review Conference to the Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, at the United Nations in New York. He is also member of the Swedish International Law and Disarmament Delegation. His latest book The Key to Nuclear Restraint: The Swedish Plans to Acquire Nuclear Weapons during the Cold War, is published with Palgrave Macmillan 2016.
