The Swedish Network for European Studies in Political Science (SNES) aims to promote research in Political Science, focused on questions pertaining to Europe at Swedish universities, and to facilitate exchanges among researchers and doctoral students active in this field. The overarching objectives of the network are to establish favourable conditions for research and doctoral studies in Political Science-oriented research on European questions and to disseminate the  results of such research to a broader audience.

SNES consists of eleven member departments at Uppsala University, Malmö University, Lund University, Linnaeus University, Karlstad University, Umeå University, Linköping University, Dalarna University, Stockholm University, University of Gothenburg and Södertörn University.

SNES is one of three academic networks comprised in the Swedish government’s 1997 effort to promote research on Europe.

This autumn the Department of Economic History will be hosts of the regular PhD-workshops conducted by SNES.

The workshop will be an occasion to discuss drafts and to network with other PhD students working broadly with European issues. At the Department of Economic History we have a special focus on security/crisis related perspectives in European governance, so participants with this focus are particularly welcome even if only indirectly relating to the European Studies field.

The program will take place at the Department of Economic History, Stockholm University, starting at 10:30 on November 9, ending at around lunch time on November 10. The workshop will be dedicated to paper discussions, led by one assigned discussant per paper.
